What a mess out there today! Hurricane Michael is blowing through today, though greatly diminished in its size, strength and power from yesterday when it slammed into Florida. The devastation is overwhelming and my heart aches for those who have suffered from so much loss to the winds, rain and storm surge from this monstrous storm. Some have barely recovered from Florence here in North Carolina and now have to face Michael knocking on their door. It's just devastating to see the images I've seen from Florida and for anyone living there or know someone who does/did, my heart is with you in this harrowing time.
It's hard to stay focused on things here, but life and work goes on, so while we still have power, if it even goes out at all, we are cleaning up from previous projects like candles, wax melts and the last batch we made - Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater. Stuff piles up quickly when you make a batch that splits 5 or 6 fragrance & colour ways!
So once the clean up is completed, what comes next is already in the planning stages. Insider tip is shave bars. Our stock has been recently depleted, so it's now time to consider restocks and the fragrances we want to include this time. For our restock, I'm planning to do a dual-lye formulation as opposed to the single as our previous stock was. Why? Well, I'd like to try a dual lye this time, which I have not done so far, believe it or not. Ten years and never having done one is something of an embarrassing thing to admit, but we plan to correct that soon. As for the fragrances, there are two in the Seascape collection from Bramble Berry that will be beautiful in shave soaps that will be very pleasing for men. Fragrance Lab's 'Prime' is a long-time favorite which will be returning. We call it Alpha. Emerald Isle of course is popular with men & women so that too will be returning. One or two from Nature's Garden, including the Emerald Isle fragrance are coming soon, too. Two have not been available before!
So, there's a lot of variety for the shave soaps for men as before though most will be familiar. Beard oils will have matching scents to use with our shave soaps. Oh and the soap will not have colour added. Just plain soap though very fragrant! It also works great for women's shaving needs, too, so I should mention that most of the scents for men are perfect for women as well.
